By Napoleonic times, many of the Janissary Orta (Regiments) were quite large and in practice constituted a pool of manpower. When a campaign was planned the Orta would be ordered to provide a service ‘battalion’ (often 1000 men) for the army.
Djivelek were Janissary cadets nearing the end of their training, who often fought alongside older Janissaries. They were distinguished on the battlefield by a tall pointed yellow hat.
Models are supplied unassembed and unpainted. Bases are not included.
